Hello friends. I am sorry for the long absence. Depression is a tricky thing, and I’ve been trying to get a handle on it. Sometimes you have good days, and sometimes you have days where you survive. For a quick update on my Postpartum Depression: I am doing better with an increase in my anti-depressant. Writing and talking has helped me out so much as well. I am in an interesting part of life where I feel like I need to “re-find” myself. There is so much that anxiety wouldn’t allow me to explore. So, in a way, it is kind of freeing to be able to explore myself more deeply. In that, I have a lot of (and I do mean a lot) of work to do here. My summer startitis has gone overboard. Then the need for all the things halloween came, and well… I have a ton of knitting and writing to do. So I’ve been telling myself this for the last week:
I am working on two patterns right now. One is a sock pattern that is inspired by the book, The Secret Garden. I am going to make this a free pattern. However, I am going to make a book sock series. A portion of those proceeds will go to some sort of national literacy program. With that, I am also going to be starting a book club for Spruce Knits. With each book I choose, I will publish a pattern. If you sign up for my book club, and participate, you get the pattern for free! Woo. One of my joys is sitting down with a good book, in a lovely pair of socks, a blanket and a good cup of strong coffee. I want to share that with everyone.
I’ve also been working a new shawl design that I am really excited about. It is based on the Forestry Cowl tree design, but put into a triangular shawl. I love it. I am knitting a second one so I can get my instructions just so. Something is throwing me off with the writing. Naturally I want all of my patterns to be easy to read, so this is giving me a decent challenge. I am not sure what charity I am going to help with this shawl, I would LOVE to know where you would like it to go. Do you know some people who are doing some good somewhere?
If you’re willing to do some good for a small little baby knitting designer who would be your BFF until the end of time; I am looking for testers to knit up my patterns. If you’re interested and want to knit on a deadline, please shoot me an email at email@example.com. I really appreciate everyone who has given me support so far and I am excited to see where this can take us.
Well, this was a quick ramble about what’s going on here at Spruce Knits. I hope that you’re doing some good knitting out there somewhere. Thanks for reading.
