‘Tis the Season.

IMG_0057Finals are over, the house is clean and I’ve been getting my knitting on. There is a fire in the fireplace, and I am watching some Halmark Christmas special. *sigh* Bliss.

I seriously love this time of year. I am one of those annoying people that starts listening to Christmas music in June. I love that Christmas Stuff at Walmart starts showing up in early October. (It isn’t fall without Christmas) (Oh, and no, they don’t bring out the stuff earlier every year, only Hobby Lobby, they start in July) I love it so much because my mom loved Christmas so much. I mean, we bought a house out in the middle of nowhere because it had room for a 12ft Christmas tree, if that’s not love. She always made the holidays special. Her cookies and treats were to die for, and I wish that I had her tremendous baking ability.  In my own little way, it keeps me close to her. So I will be like Scrooge, and keep Christmas in my heart the whole year long, thankyouverymuch.

This year, I am looking forward to resting and reading. Two things that probably don’t go together in the normal academic year, but it does when I am reading a book that I want to read, I have a cup of tea and a blanket with a warm cat on my feet. (Oh and it’s snowing outside, snow is a requirement)

I’ve been busting out my knitting needles for last minute gifts. I wasn’t planning on gift knitting this year, but at the final minute, I decided to go for it. One person may see their gift while I am finishing the last few stitches. Ha ha.

I am making cowls, easy to knit and they knit up rather quick. I scored a Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Bulky sampler. I loved all of the colors, so just had to get it, of course.

In the Coal color, (dark grey) I chose to knit the Gap-Tastic cowl. It was fun and so easy. Which is great, because I think that I need one of these for myself.

Perfect for the reader and tea drinker.
Close up of the seed stitch
It even keeps the snow warm!

In the Wine (lovely dark red) color, I found a great lace pattern called Lacy Scales Cowl. It is a gorgeous curving lace pattern. Again, easy to knit. I think I knit this while I watched Polar Express, and drank some wine (Gnarly Head Authentic Red, in case anyone’s wondering).

Love those stitches.
This keeps snow warm too.
Red dragon scales. Now I need Norbert.
Is it going to snow soon??!!

I have three more colors to knit up. I better get off of here and get to work. Thanks for listening.

I hope that your holiday is filled with love, and if you can’t get love from your family, I hope that you get lots of those things my mom called “Turtles”– you know, those walnuts that are wrapped with carmel and chocolate, because they are pretty close to love.

I am a reader of many beautiful things, a fantastic knitter and a lover of wine. I love writing stories. I am a daydreamer and very neurotic, but my husband married me anyway. Bless that man. Really, I am just a girl who finally figured out what she wants in life.
